Hitu Says: Why Hitechers Hates "Free" | The Truth About Free Offers, Giveaways and Real Value

25/05/2026 05:29 PM By Hitesh

What is the most expensive word in marketing?

Strange question.

Maybe not.

Because one tiny word attracts attention faster than almost anything else.

That word is...

FREE.

Free gift.

Free bonus.

Free entry.

Free upgrade.

Free offer.

Free this.

Free that.

And honestly...

most of us get attracted to it.

Understandable.

Who does not like free things?

But Hitu has a slightly uncomfortable question today.

Is anything actually free?

Why so?

Because somebody always pays.

Sometimes with money.

Sometimes with attention.

Sometimes with data.

Sometimes with future pricing.

Sometimes with expectations.

Interesting na?

The word free attracts humans very easily.

Big brands understand this.

Marketing understands this.

Campaigns understand this.

Everybody understands this.

And maybe that is exactly why...

at Hitechers, we hate "free".

Strong statement?

Yes.

Let us explain.

Nothing is free at Hitechers.

Nothing.

Do we give offers?

Absolutely.

Do we sometimes sell ageing products at prices much lower than our own cost?

Yes.

Real story.

But that is not "free".

That is a conscious decision.

Transparent.

Intentional.

Practical.

Because we believe in comfort and clarity.

Not gimmicks.

Not emotional traps wrapped inside shiny words.

At Hitechers...

we believe something very simple.

The best way to receive comfort...

is to give comfort to others first.

And openly pretending something costs nothing...

feels like fooling ourselves.

Now let us tell you something real.

Back in April 2022...

we organised a Shop & Win Lucky Draw.

Yes.

Hitechers did that.

Gifts were given.

Fairly.

Properly.

No hidden game.

Lucky winners received what they won.

Everything genuine.

But something interesting happened.

The first prize winner received a Saregama Carvaan Musicbar.

And then...

never came back to buy anything from us.

Interesting lesson.

Very interesting lesson.

Not anger.

Not complaint.

Just... learning.

Because it made us ask a difficult question.

What exactly are we trying to build here?

A community?

Or a temporary crowd attracted by the word "free"?

That moment changed our thinking.

Not because the contest failed.

It did not.

Not because winners were treated unfairly.

They were not.

Everything was done properly.

But because we realised something important.

Free can attract attention.

But attention and belonging are not the same thing.

Random giveaways can create excitement.

But excitement alone does not automatically create community.

And that is when we decided...

no more free culture at Hitechers.

Instead...

we will work for the benefit and betterment of our community.

Consistently.

Clearly.

Practically.

Because that is what actually matters to us.

Not random hype.

Not temporary numbers.

Not short-lived excitement.

Real comfort.

Real clarity.

Real value.

That is why today...

our community members get benefits in a different way.

Through things like Smart Shopper Specials.

Exclusive reward deals for our community.

Not "spin the wheel and pray."

Not "click fast before it disappears."

Just practical value for people who are part of what we are building.

Simple.

Straight.

Because we are not trying to build excitement for five minutes.

We are trying to build trust for years.

Want to explore Smart Shopper Specials?

We are here to learn.

And maybe today's learning is simple.

When something says FREE...

ask one extra question.

Free for whom?

Because comfort matters.

Clarity matters.

Community matters.

And at Hitechers...

we will keep choosing those things.

Every single time.

The point is to understand. Why so? Sorted.
